My name is Daphne Golabian, I am in Triad F, the political science trial with Dr. Luitrell, Dr. Dillard, and Professor Murray. I am a first-year student a Texas A&M Corpus Christi and I am majoring in economics. This year I have been engaged in my learning community and society by really trying to meet many people in my classes. I have met many different people and have been able to learn about them and their background. I also have participated in my classes as much as I could to be able to really understand the subjects and improve my grades. I have also been a part of the first-year symposium, and I was able to really sit and create a colorful and informative board to show my fellow first years what I have been researching all semester. I met many people and was able to learn a lot during symposium and see how intelligent everyone is. I have noticed a diversity in my learning community from my professors to my fellow students. All of my professors are different, all great professors but different; it has been refreshing to go to each class and experience a different work environment. I also have noticed many different students and it has been eye opening to learn from these different students. Some that are out of state or even out of the country. It has been so amazing meeting everyone and seeing how diverse the world is just from this one campus.
The topic that I have researched this semester led me to find many issues within my issues, and it is so sad to see all the problems that have been swept under the rug. Along with my issue my classmates have been able to find so many more issues all different from the next and it is so interesting that everyone has found something so different from one another but have been able to express this issue in a way that brings light to it. Researching this all semester has really fueled my curiosity on topics of ethics and morals within so many people because a lot of issues start with morals and ethics in all people. It has also given me a fear of how people may perceive me from certain views whether people agree with my morals or not.
I feel as though this semester has really helped developed my critical thinking by the papers and the test. As college and high school are so different, I was able to really develop how I think and manage my time. If we are able to improve out communication in our democracy, then maybe we would see less misunderstandings and arguments within our country, and it would help us become stronger as a country. If we also have diversity in our democracy, we can also see the uniqueness that we all have and maybe we can have better representation for some of the communities that seem to be left in the dark. This would help us all come together as a stronger community and help resolve so many issues that are in our democracy.
This semester and all of the trials and errors have really taught me many things about myself and about others that I won’t ever forget. My learning community has really pushed me throughout this semester. It has helped strengthen my work ethics, I have been able to express this growth on my blog and I think you can see my growth throughout my various blog post. I have expressed my mistakes and how I have progressed from it and it is so interesting to be able to go back and see how much I have grown from just four months ago. This semester has been a rollercoaster, but I have learned so much from myself and I am so grateful for it.
